Artist Statement

Andrea de Leon pursues cerebral landscapes to explore fundamentally human concepts. Experimental themes of distortion, equilibrium, optics and psychology expose a "quantum neurosis." By creating optical layers and volume with negative space she rides the lines of paradox by creating harmony within tension. Due to the process of making the work, the exchange of heat and energy is embedded in the final pieces creating an abstract, esoteric mindscape for the viewer to reveal something about themselves - they serve as a kind of Rorschach reflection.
