About the Artist
Anna is a native Austinite and urban beekeeper. Her work is a direct reflection of her ongoing love affair with bees. Some pieces are cast directly from honeycomb while others aim to embody the beauty, textures and colors found within her hives.
Artist Statement
Austin native Anna Gieselman is a fine artist, jewelry designer and urban beekeeper. Her work draws inspiration from the fragile, magical nature of honey bees. Through techniques such as lost-wax casting, she creates one-of-a-kind functional jewelry and fine art objects that incorporate the seemingly ephemeral material of honey bees and their honeycombs. Anna's work aims to draw attention to the fragile, mysterious, untold power of honey bees and the unconsidered importance they play in our lives and the sustainability of the planet. Each individual sculpture and jewelry piece serves as a link between humans and our environment, bugs included.
