Art From The Streets

About the Artist

The mission of Art From the Streets is to provide a safe and encouraging environment in which the positive spirit and creativity for those experiencing homelessness are nurtured through their own artistic expression. These artistic endeavors form a pathway to self-determination by means of the sense of achievement, social connections, and income generated through the pursuit of their art. 95% of your purchase goes directly back to the artist that created it. Artist Statement

Self-determination theory states that there are three basic needs that must be satisfied to foster well-being, health and independence.Skills: Experience confidence in your knowledge and skills and be able to control an outcome. Autonomy: Feeling in control. Empowered to make your own decisions. Connection: The need to interact, be connected to something/someone and experience caring for others.Through the Art From The Streets program, Artists are able to have autonomy by having control over what they want to create. They can hone their skills by improving with practice and feedback. And they experience connection with fellow artists, volunteers and customers. When people connect with the broader community, they can uncover latent resources such as jobs, housing and support networks beyond the homelessness system. We exist through your support for the good of our artists and our city.
