Camille Lema

About the Artist

Camille is an indigenous folk artist creating work that celebrates indigenous cultures around the world and the beauty found in nature. As a teaching artist for 10 years, their curriculum has had a broad range of activities and projects from sensory art, team building, process art, art history, story telling, movement and more. Camille is a Portland OR native currently based in Austin TX for over 7 years. She runs an after school program which offers weekend workshops and camps known as Crafternoon ATX. You may find her as a vendor in pop-up markets selling art prints and various hand painted items. Camille considers herself to be a "natural born artist" who has not only worked hard to reach her goals in life, but is forever grateful to the people who helped push her in the direction of success throughout her art career.

Artist Statement

My paintings tell stories of the past and the future. Here, you will find a celebration of indigenous people and what they have left behind in this world over the centuries. My work is a spiritual practice and a way to give my thanks to my ancestors and Mother Earth. Each piece shares an appreciation for the colors which nature produces and the life we are blessed with here on earth before we move onto the next life.
