I am a graduate of the University of Texas. I studied English and studio art/photography, and upon graduation, like many, I loved Austin so much I stayed. I worked at Sweetish Hill Bakery and then the University Coop. All the while my art work continued, though it shifted from photographs to painting. My work has been shown in the Peoples Gallery (2013) and as a guest of Deanna Miesch at East (2018), and I sell online. I am married to one of the greatest teachers in the state of Texas-Martha.
I am working to create expressionist pieces filled with texture, movement, color, and dynamic brushwork. I often begin a piece in pure abstraction, and then work to evolve it into a tangible landscape. I like for things to move organically and to be surprised at how the creation develops, though I follow certain themes and patterns. Often this leads down a rabbit hole, but when it all comes together it creates a piece that is unique and dynamic. Creation as a reward.
