I created this painting using acrylic and powdered pigment. I was inspired by light rainbows coming through crystals. I enjoy letting one color come into my eyes for long periods. It is the complete experience of color that creates a spiritual feeling. I have done a few of these using an airbrush and enjoy every moment.

About the Artist

I have been working in fine art and graphic design since I was a child. Whenever I look up at the sky or see into nature, I imagine what the scene would look like in paint. My worldview is mapped in colors, which always amazes me. All members of my family are artists, and painting is like breathing to me. I learned techniques and tools at an early age and these gifts have stayed with me. All the challenges of life are poured into my work and express feelings, both dark and joyful.

Artist Statement

My art follows the inspiration found in shadows, color, and depth of the human eye, water, and dreams. I had a dream that my drawings were under a clear surface. I set out to find the correct tools to create this image. I used epoxy over the surfaces of my drawings, then layered glass and pigments on top of the warm and curing mixture. After the curing process was complete, I used a Dremel to carve into the surface as if drawing in three dimensions. I work in a unique way with this challenging medium. The random and intentional distribution of materials is both beautiful and dangerous much like the universe.
