Eric Cleaver White is a painter living in Austin, TX. He grew up in Northern California and has always maintained an art practice from painting and drawing to sculpture and Polaroid photography. He received a BA in design from the Academy of Art College in 1994.

I feel our deepest needs and desires as human and spiritual beings have not really changed over the centuries whereas our environment and the complications of contemporary life have changed quite a bit. I think it’s interesting to think of us as un-evolved animals in an artificially evolved and increasingly unnatural world. My paintings use materiality, surface, figuration, abstraction and art history in an attempt to give substance and meaning to a mysterious, indifferent, and largely unknowable universe.
