Ingrid Crow

About the Artist

Ingrid Crow was born in Texas and lived out her formative years in Mexico.Returning to the USA, she attended school for industrial engineering but always harbored an interest in the arts. Self taught in painting, Crow has found creating artwork to be a staple of life. Painting grounds Ingrid and allows her to shift from her everyday to something relaxing and adventurous. With each brushstroke, Ingrid Crow explores her memory of impactful scenery and recreates her experiences through a myriad of painting techniques. The artists now lives and paints in Austin, TX.

Artist Statement

For over a year, artist and painter Ingrid Crow has focused her creativity on mountains. While hiking in Colorado with her husband, she became overtaken by the immense landscape. Mountain ranges breaking the sky, weathered over thousands of years and yet, jagged from rapid rock falls. Surrounding them are habitats packed with life. Crow found herself enthralled by the textures, mixtures of earth tones, and variations of sky: peaceful and appealing. The artist internalized these experiences and began to recreate them with paint on canvas. Crow’s paintings have progressed quickly. What were once realistic depictions of mountains, confined to life-like expectation, quickly became combinations of planned and unplanned abstractions of mountain ranges. Loose and fun, the artist's work continues to abstract the feeling and meaning of different mountains and the areas around them. Crow allows the natural colors to change in correlation with how she interprets the scenery. Non-traditional and vibrant, the artist views her artworks as puzzles, made of many different distinct parts that come together to create a striking image.
