About the Artist
Born in 1976, Jacob Colburn, the son of master sculptor Daryl G Colburn grew up going to art shows. When he was old enough to hold it, he began creating things with his fathers torch. In 2006, with his own child on the way, he began to apprentice under his dad. Jacob first publicized work were trophies for the 2009 Austin Marathon. His work has been placed all over the world from New York to Dubai.
I am a second generation artist that grew up having a love of copper. The colors that can be pulled from it are quite amazing! Inspired by math and geometry, I enjoy integrating them into my creations. I uses acid, inks, and fire to change the chemical makeup of copper to produce unique works of art.
