About the Artist
A music educator of nearly 20 years, as a creative I have always enjoyed working with my hands. So when life moved me away from the classroom and the musical theatre stage, woodworking as a vocation was not a large leap.My father was born during WWI just before the outbreak of the Spanish flu pandemic and my mother was just a toddler as the Great Depression began. I surprised my parents by showing up in their mid-life. When I was toddling about the world celebrated the moon landing and change was in the air. However, being absolutely surrounded by those who knew so much about lack and loss profoundly affected the little overly sensitive soul of this little Gen-Xer. Despite the damaged psyche I learned from masters how to make trash into treasure. My process is often guided by those skills I learned so long ago. I gather and keep things that I see something in. Some may call it hording. I call it collecting beautiful possibilities.
Artist Statement
So much wood, so little time. This woodworking designer/builder finds himself more than just a little interested in the bits and pieces, strips, hunks and chunks otherwise known as the "drop" of the shop. This borderline obsession has inspired experiments in sculptural wall panels, home items and intricate veneers.
