About the Artist
Lauren Hunt is an artist and educator located in Austin, Texas. She began her focus in glass at Virginia Commonwealth University where she received her BFA. After graduating, she moved to Corning, NY and began a 7 year career working for the Corning Museum of Glass Hot Glass Show and their Blow Glass At Sea Program. Hunt’s glass reflects the inspiration from the years of travel she experienced while performing on board Celebrity Cruise Ships. Her work, now, focuses on color and form as she strives to create a balanced, well crafted object. Hunt has participated and instructed at The Corning Museum of Glass, Penland School of Craft, and Ghost Pepper Glass. Currently, Hunt is a fabricator for various clients, an instructor, and produces her own work for galleries around Texas.
Artist Statement
I am a production glass blower that creates one-of-a-kind pieces that take on a modern aesthetic using traditional techniques. My goal is to produce a well-crafted object that allows the user to feel connected to the material and experience it with a new appreciation and fascination. My artwork allows me to express the sculptural elements of the material while my production glass grants me the ability to design drinkware, lighting, and home decor items.
