Lyssandra is a born and raised Austinite. After high school she studied at Kansas City Art Institute and received her BFA in Sculpture. She then went on to study Art History further in pursuit of applying to a Master's Program. At the same time she rediscovered her love of working with clay and dove into her ceramic art practice. Currently, she is focused on producing beautiful functional ceramics intended to develop important and impactful relationships between the objects and their owners.
My work focuses on the relationship between the functional object and its owner. I primarily make dinnerware but I also enjoy creating commissions tailored to a patrons needs and/or interests. However, the most rewarding aspect of my ceramic work is hearing about the experiences my buyers have with it, particularly the physical sensations. Whether it's seeing the beautiful funeral urn that has become the final resting place of your beloved pet, the warmth of a mug combined with the smell of the coffee inside it, or the tactile sensation of a textured surface on the outside of a vessel, simple experiences like this can make a huge impact on your day.
