About the Artist
Although I was exposed early on to art as well as traditional music and have taken a smattering of classes/lessons throughout my life, I am a mostly self-taught artist, photographer, and bluegrass/old-time musician. My full-time professional energy, along with my degrees in civil engineering and public policy, go into developing statewide water supply and flood plans. A buckeye from birth, I’d lived and traveled elsewhere, including overseas, for extended periods before settling in Austin where I have recently begun to more fully integrate visual art-making into my life.
Artist Statement
My works broadly range from color fields to abstract portraiture to mixed media/digital collage. A degree of kinetics and primitivity are important to how I think about and approach my work. Myth-telling consciousness, parallel-processing, and altered connotations fairly describe the origin/evolution of my recent works.
