Artist Statement

Life is a brilliant, beautiful, and exquisitely vibrant Journey!

I am a proud Austinite - the hip town of Texas!

In my professional photographer mode, I am happy to capture "that moment" - the essence of the subject, invoking an emotional response from my viewers.

But capturing "that moment" in my Painter mode - now that is a new challenge!

It took a lot of non-joyous introspection and self-analysis to reach my 'aha' moment in Painting. The realization is, I have to adapt my photographer's eye for detail, merge it with my emotional artist's eye for feeling, to paint "that moment". I do analog and digital paintings

This challenge has transformed the way I paint and photograph today. I try to abstract shapes, color, texture, and light to evoke "that feeling" and express " that emotion" in my images. I am now deconstructing my old photographs and turning them into abstract forms.

It is great to be a professional photographer, capturing commercial products, architectural interiors, and Exteriors, with my cameras over 3 decades.

In my travels around the world, I have photographed a smorgasbord of people, cultures, and fascinating lives in over 50 countries. I have showcased my work in art galleries and gratified to be complimented on the quality of my work!

My other life interests are - singing Indian Classical music, acting and making jewelry for relaxation. I am active in various social conscious activities.

It has been a long, winding and pleasurable path to reach my goal and the journey continues. I am at an equilibrium, attaining a sense of peace with my work.

I have successfully published 2 photo books

Austin East of I 35 -first of its kind contemporary book on East Austin
