About the Artist
How to keep an artist alive: give them space to riot and give them bread to eat. Give them tools to create with and energy to be. Give them everything it takes to be a successful human being with extra room— always extra room—so that they can speak more life into life. This is Riot Bread. Artists sustaining one another. Painters, poets, photographers, producers, models, sculptors, musicians, cinematographers, problem solvers & philosophers are all welcome to break bread and riot together in this collaborative enterprise.Riot Bread is alive today because of artist and dada philosopher, R.J. Armstrong. It was first founded in 1999 as a collective of artists, writers, and musicians. Over the last 20 years, Riot Bread created and exhibited art in Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas-Ft Worth, and Austin, Texas. Through the thickness of life’s arduous and beautiful paths, R.J. has continued its legacy from 1999 to present.
The balance of responsibly breathing, giving, and learning with setting antiquated ways on fire, howling at the moon, and welcoming the wonder of life’s cacophony: -all of this- can be found here, baked into RIOT BReAD.Welcome to all who want to create together…. …..who are making art for the sake of making art, without the cloud of old ideas muting their expression….. …..who want to be emboldened together by using their voicesthrough all mediums…… RIOT BReAD wants to sustain your ideas and illuminate them so that the world can clearly meet them. We are all for what enriches this experience of being a living artist. What we create together is not just for us creators- -it is for the potential of unfiltered life to break through and speak.
