About the Artist

Ryan Doolittle grew up in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She spent her formative years surrounded by nature and learning to make art out of clay. After discovering the joy of gifting what she had made to family she fell in lovewith making for others and has been making ever since. After going to school for ceramics, she found glass and became infatuated with it. The last 18 years have been full of attempting to master but mostly having fun with this craziest of mercurial mediums and sharing her love of it with others all over the country and world. Her glass tends to be quirky, niche and rich in color and texture. Working on prototypes and perfecting designs is an endless source of joy and frustration and collaborating with fellow glass artists is a highlight of this craft form for her. After working for the Corning Museum of Glass for ten years she has been enjoying being a full time maker and teacher at Ghost Pepper Glass in East Austin. She spends her free time gardening, pampering fur babies and enjoying the unique patios, ecosystems and wildlife Austin, Texas has to offer.

Artist Statement

I am obsessed with visual texture, nature and designs that can only be classified as niche and one of a kind. Colors that draw the eye with their vibrancy and unexpected depth accented by rich patterns. If there is an adorable factor to my work that brings smiles to faces, it feeds my soul and makes me want to keep making!
