Samantha Jacobson

About the Artist

Samantha Jacobson was born outside of Philadelphia, PA to her Jewish-American father and English mother who steadily renovated their 100 year old stone country house around her and siblings as they grew up. She is primarily based in Austin, TX but continues to split her time in the northeastern US. Jacobson trained in theatrical costume design at Marymount Manhattan College and worked on New York City Broadway & television productions until she relocated to Austin in 2016. Costumes and character study continue to influence her work as she develops both her studio and public practice.

Artist Statement

My work focuses on the vibrant fortitude of human life, the unique mood surrounding individuals, and the world we all inhabit. We often take for granted both the beauty of humanity and our environments, allowing moments of pure wonder to pass us by. Using paint and mixed mediums I create pieces of captured energy, using texture and color to emphasize the power of simply existing in a world full of delight
