About the Artist
I grew up in Paris with a French mother, and an American father. In the 70s, we moved back to the US where my parents founded The Waring School near Boston. My most lasting memories are of days with my family, in their school that embodied a dynamic mix of cultures, languages, the arts, mixed together with the hand-made, camping across America, printing on letterpress, milking goats, baking, playing instruments...and above all, sketching daily. My mother was an Art teacher, she taught me lessons and habits that have served me throughout life, to “look”, to observe things as they are; that boredom never has to show up, there is always something to discover around us...I later went to Art school in Philadelphia, and finished my degree in NYC at the Fashion Institute.Although my career has been in design and marketing, I am now transitioning my time and resources towards a more personal side of creative expression, painting primarily, but also in other forms...decorative arts, found objects...and have started to take on commission work.
Artist Statement
Expressing through art, is my way of connecting to something greater. Something deeper within. I stop to look. I love the "still movement" of our world, that which carries us all. I try to capture the inner reflection, that moment when we become what we are looking at.
