About the Artist
Rachel Long is a painter and theater artist who grew up in Austin, TX. She holds a BFA in Visual Art from the University of Texas at Austin and a certificate degree in acting from the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre. She is the Development Director and a company member of Salvage Vanguard Theater.
Artist Statement
Mountain Mother is a series of black and white drawings that were made in the Black Forest region of Freiburg, Germany. The series, thus far, includes "Dagmar," "Tea From the Place Where the Four Directions Meet," "Two Hawks Over Freiburg," and "The Council of Enough." There will be prints of these drawings on display for the studio tour. In making them, I try to hold an attentive reverence for the earth and that which unites.
