About the Artist
Lynne Brotman is a fiber/mixed media artist based in Austin, Texas. She creates unique works by dyeing and sculpting fibers, creating unique surface designs on fabric and manipulating paper. She is a teacher, lecturer and has served on fiber arts boards in the local and national surface design community.
Lynne's work has been juried into several exhibitions in Texas, California, Oregon and Colorado. This includes the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles (San Jose,CA) Fiber Art at Poudre Studio (Denver) and the Unforseen exhibition at CAMIBAart Gallery (Austin). She was most recently a featured artist in the Houston Voyager and several of her works will be published in an upcoming book, Art of Connection. Tokyo Electron holds several of her works in their corporate art collection.

Artist Statement
Symbology is the study of past and present symbols that have become engrained in our being. Symbols signify our existence and our connections with the world around us illustrating feelings such as, "I have been here," " I believe this," and "I am like others." They mark the roadmaps of my work, both in their presentation and in their interpretation by the viewer. Symbols determine the colors and mediums I incorporate into each piece. Building layers of rich color, through mediums such as dyeing, fiber manipulation, printing, and/or mark-making, I embark on a journey where I develop my own personal symbology. My vision is to give voice to our stories and experiences through the tactile medium of fiber.
